Product Rationalization and the Future of Presort at BCC Software

At BCC Software, our mission is to provide the most comprehensive, streamlined, and robust mailing software solutions in the industry.

At BCC Software, our mission is to provide the most comprehensive, streamlined, and robust mailing software solutions in the industry.

That mission guides every decision we make—including how we evolve and optimize our product offerings. One of the most strategic steps we’re taking to fulfill this mission is the consolidation of multiple presort engines into a single, unified presort engine. This process is new, currently underway, and will require significant time and development to fully realize. At this time, the software you are used to will not be changing, so don’t worry. There will be subsequent announcements in the future highlighting new developments.

Existing Landscape: A Multi-Presort Engine Ecosystem
Historically over the evolution of our software, BCC Software products have utilized a variety of presort engines to meet our customers’ demands. While each of these engines has served specific purposes, maintaining separate systems introduces operational complexity, inconsistent results, and fragmented user experiences. Our first step in this process is to unify the presort engines behind Bulk Mailer, Architect, and Architect REACH—currently in development.

The Case for Product Rationalization
To align with our mission and deliver the best possible experience to our customers, product rationalization is an essential process currently underway. Rationalization allows us to:

1. Enhance Efficiency and Consistency
By consolidating all products under a unified presort engine, we eliminate duplicate development paths and ensure that every BCC Software solution operates with consistent presort logic, up-to-date compliance, and harmonized performance.

2. Reduce Costs and Complexity
Supporting multiple presort engines drives up costs in maintenance, training, support, and QA. Streamlining to a single engine significantly reduces that overhead, enabling us to reinvest in areas that directly improve customer experience.”

3.  Accelerate Innovation
A unified platform allows our engineering teams to focus innovation on one powerful presort engine. This means faster delivery of new features, improved automation, and rapid adaptation to USPS regulatory changes.

4.  Deliver a Seamless Presort Engine
Regardless of what product a customer is using, their product will be powered by the same reliable, high-quality presort logic and reporting. This consistency provide increased levels of reliability and improves operational results.

5. Future-Proof Our Platform
With a unified presort engine as the foundation, we’re better positioned to scale across products, support emerging technologies, and maintain our industry leadership as postal requirements and customer needs evolve.

A Strategic Step Forward
The process to unify our presort engines powering our software is more than a technical upgrade—it’s a strategic move that reflects BCC Software’s commitment to excellence. By rationalizing our presort engines, we are actively delivering on our promise to provide mailing professionals with software that is:

  • Comprehensive — covering a wide range of mailing needs from presort to full-service mailing.
  • Streamlined — reducing redundancies and simplifying operations for customers and internal teams alike.
  • Robust — offering dependable, scalable solutions ready to meet the demands of today and tomorrow.

This transformation ensures that BCC Software continues to lead the industry not just in capability, but in customer-centric performance. We’re not just consolidating engines—we’re unifying our products under a shared vision of efficiency, excellence, and long-term value.
