The USPS released performance scores from the first three weeks of the fourth quarter that showed a positive uptick in postal business. The service performance scores reflect the changes that were put in place on October 1, 2020, as part of the Postal Service’s™ 10-year plan, Delivering for America.

“As we continue to improve service reliability and network efficiency, we are working across the nation to add facilities and equipment at a magnitude not endeavored here in a long time and at a pace that rivals any high-performing commercial enterprise,” said Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. “Everyone at the Postal Service has been working all year long to prepare for the upcoming holiday season, and we are ready to deliver. The American public should feel confident sending their holiday mail and packages with the Postal Service this year.”

Since April of this year, the USPS has installed 88 of 112 new high-speed package sorting machines to help increase postal efficiency. Additionally, the USPS has hosted national employee hiring drives, leased more spaces, and installed more than 50 package systems that can be used to sort large packages. These changes have allowed the Postal Service to process an additional 4.5 million packages per day.
